Abstract:

Snapshot photograph album documenting a family stage coach excursion from Raymond to Yosemite Valley via Wawona. Points of interest depicted include Mariposa Big Tree Grove, Wawona Tree, Colorado Tree, Inspiration Point and Camp Yosemite. Also includes a few snapshots of a gold mining operation in Mojave, Cailf. owned by Frank Tindall, an uncle of the album's compiler. Mining views include the complex from a distance as well as ore extraction and acid leaching facilities, and Frank's nearby home "Tindall Heights". Identified individuals include the unnamed female compiler, coach driver Whitersey, Nellie, Lotta, Aunt Jennie and Uncle Frank Tindall. Associated papers include a brief hand-written history of the town of Raymond, Calif., and a check issued by the Yellow Aster Mining and Milling Co. of Randsburg, Calif. made payable to Henry Gianderie (?).
